World Environment Day at Megha Food Cooperative Society – A Joint Initiative of MMCS ,Mendipathar and Madhukar Livelihood Foundation
World Environment Day was celebrated at Megha Food Cooperative Society amidst great fanfare and enthusiasm. To mark the World Environment Day theme of “Land Restoration , Desertification and Drought Resilience” with the slogan “ Our Land , Our future “ , relevant initiatives and activities were undertaken by our cluster members.
Our cluster members initiated a tree planting campaign by planting a sapling each at the CFC premises. The sole aim behind the plantation drives was to contribute significantly against the dangers of climate change, increase biodiversity in the environment and improve the overall quality of life in the area.
Similarly, outreach campaigns were conducted by the cluster members for the beneficiaries for controlling/stopping the usage of plastic, waste segregation, saving water,etc.
Overall, the objective behind marking the event was to make our members aware on the adverse effects our environment is facing in the current times and steps to combat them.
